Project meeting in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, September 2005

Date: 2006-04-14

Coordinators' project meeting in Cluj-Napoca was held on the 19th-22nd of September 2005.

Two of the German colleagues working on the project (Christiane Hansen and Klaus Botermann) and two Hungarian teachers (Szilard Csak and Luca Szalay) visited the Romanian hosts in the partner school in Cluj. We were welcomed in a very warm and nice way by the principal, all the teachers and students of the school.
The coordinators being present at the meeting discussed and made decisions about the following issues:
  • Planning the second year of the project: the activities, the common products, the mobilities, the evaluation of the project;
  • Evaluation of the first year of the project;
  • Dissemination of results (e.g. LEND congress);
  • Visited lessons:
    o English language lessons
    o German language lessons;
  • Talked to students about their expectations of their country becoming a member of the European Union;
  • Attended a project activity about gender issues developed and led by Ariana Vacaretu concerning:
    o stereotypes and prejudices about girls and boys,
    o equal chances for men and women.
Cultural programme
1. Guided tour in Cluj
The hosts organised a guided tour around the town. Despite of the bad weather (it was raining all the afternoon) the 10th grade students did not give up and gave all the presentations about the sights of Cluj that had been planned in advance.
2. Visit in the Botanical Garden
The other occasion when the host students introduced their city to the guests was the visit in the Botanical Garden of Cluj. Here the 11th grade students of the partner school gave brief talks about the most important things to see.

The guest teachers highly appreciated the hospitality and the excellent foreign language skills of the host students that were proved by the various presentations as well as at the time of free conversations.
